Sony Ericsson P900 smartphone is based on Symbian OS

London, UK – Symbian announces that the Sony Ericsson P900 smartphone launched this week at CTIA Wireless Las Vegas is based on Symbian OS.

Building on the successful Sony Ericsson P800 smartphone that is also based on Symbian OS, the P900 provides full PDA/organizer functions, video recording capability, 65K colour touch screen, increased memory and an excellent gaming experience.

The P900 is the fourth smartphone in the market to incorporate the UIQ user interface. UIQ is the user friendly and customisable pen-based user interface for media-rich smartphones based on Symbian OS.

Symbian OS is the global industry standard operating system for advanced mobile phones and is licensed by the world’s leading handset manufacturers. The Sony Ericsson P900 is the 12th smartphone launched to use Symbian OS, with an additional 26 phones and variants based on Symbian OS in development worldwide with 9 Symbian OS licensees.
