The agreement signed between Tira Wireless and Vodafone spans 13 countries, providing more than two million Vodafone live! customers with access to a selection of quality wireless Java titles from Tira's application portfolio.

NHL SlapShot Hockey and Sun Crosswords2Go are two titles produced by Tira Studios that will initially be made available to users of the Vodafone live! service. NHL SlapShot Hockey is a fast-paced, 2-on-2 hockey game that lets users choose their favorite NHL teams, and leverage distinct attributes, such as skating speed and offense and defense abilities, to win the game. Sun Crosswords2Go (vol. 1 and 2) offers a quick crossword challenge on a mobile phone, with 20 fun and challenging crosswords in each volume to provide hours of addictive entertainment.

Erickson continued, "Mobile operators such as Vodafone demand their applications run on a wide selection of handsets and are available in multiple languages. With our Jump platform, which automates the application porting process, we were able to very quickly deliver each wireless application in the required languages, while ensuring operation on multiple handsets, meeting Vodafone's deployment criteria."

The Tira Jump platform addresses the challenges of device fragmentation and localization by automatically generating and customizing J2ME applications to meet particular handset features and functionality as well as multiple languages and operator specific requirements. By generating versions of an application from a single reference build, the Jump platform effectively 'future proofs' an application by ensuring it can quickly and inexpensively be made available on new devices as they are introduced. By leveraging this proprietary technology - which is also available as a service for publishers, developers and mobile operators - Tira Studios applications such as NHL SlapShot Hockey are available to Vodafone subscribers in a number of languages, including English, French, Italian, German and Spanish and across multiple handsets.

Both NHL SlapShot Hockey and Sun Crosswords2Go are available on the following handsets: Motorola T720, Nokia 3510i, Nokia 3595, Nokia 7210, Nokia 6100, Nokia 6610, Nokia 5100, Nokia 3650, Nokia 7650, and Sharp GX10.
