XIAM wins major contract with Telenor Mobile Interactive in the USA
2nd September 2003, Dublin, Ireland - XIAM, the Irish mobile applications software company, today announced that Telenor Mobile Interactive, the US arm of leading Norwegian mobile communications company Telenor Mobile, has purchased the XIAM Media Platform to enable it to provide mobile interactive services to North American broadcasters.
The XIAM Media Platform is a complete solution for providing interactive mobile services to broadcasters and brands. Using XIAM's technology, American audiences will get the opportunity to interact with their favourite TV and radio shows using their mobile phones. Telenor Mobile's recently launched US operations have already won contracts with a number of major broadcast networks.
The North American mobile data market has in the past lagged behind that of Europe and Asia. However the recent growth in SMS traffic and the success of a range of new data services suggests that this gap may be closing. Operators in North America are waking up to the potential to drive growth by opening up the value chain to large media organisations. XIAM's technology plays a key role in this by enabling premium rate data services across a
range of major networks. XIAM's award winning technology offers the
carrier-grade performance and scalability required for the US market with
its 140 million plus mobile subscribers.
