UltimateBlue Coexistence Technology is Now Available for SiW3000 Bluetooth Radio Processor

SAN DIEGO, CA - September 16, 2003 - Silicon Wave, Inc., a leading supplier of integrated circuits for Wireless Personal Area Networks, today announced that their UltimateBlue Coexistence Technology is now available to customers using the single-chip SiW3000 Bluetooth radio processor. UltimateBlue Coexistence Technology is designed to minimize the interference between devices enabled with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless technologies. UltimateBlue Coexistence Technology complements the Adaptive Frequency Hopping techniques found in the upcoming Bluetooth Specification Version 1.2 while minimizing interference and enhancing performance in situations where legacy Bluetooth Specification Version 1.1 devices are still in use. UltimateBlue Coexistence Technology is a software-based solution that does not require hardware or driver modifications and is implemented entirely on Silicon Wave's SiW3000 Bluetooth chip. UltimateBlue Coexistence Technology is available from RF Micro Devices, Silicon Wave's exclusive worldwide distributor. RFMD will be showcasing UltimateBlue Coexistence Technology during Computex Taipei (September 22 -26) in the Wireless Pavilion, Hall1, Booth #C328.

"Wireless users want to operate both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless technologies simultaneously," said Steve Brown, vice president of business development and product marketing for Silicon Wave. "Our customers can easily implement a robust coexistence solution in their PCs, PDAs and mobile phones by combining UltimateBlue Coexistence Technology with our single-chip SiW3000 radio processor. No hardware redesign or software rewrites are necessary and our software solution is compatible with virtually all Wi-Fi chipsets on the market today."

Silicon Wave has been a pioneer in developing coexistence solutions to solve the inherent interference issues between Bluetooth and 802.11b wireless technologies, which share the same unlicensed 2.4GHz ISM band.

Key features of UltimateBlue Coexistence Technology include:
* Easy implementation - no hardware interface between 802.11b/g and Bluetooth radios is required and the 802.11 card can be any form factor
(Mini PCI, PC Card, etc.).
* Wi-Fi chipset agnostic - UltimateBlue Coexistence Technology works with 802.11b/g chipsets from any vendor and does not require host software modifications.
* Forward and backward compatible - provides interference protection for Bluetooth Specification Versions 1.1 and includes AFH support for Version 1.2
* Entire UltimateBlue Coexistence Technology solution is implemented on the Silicon Wave SiW3000 UltimateBlue Bluetooth radio processor, and all future Silicon Wave Bluetooth chips.
