Handango Named Rising Star by Deloitte & Touche's Technology Fast 50 Program
HURST, Texas - September 17, 2003 - Handango, the leading provider of mobile downloads, has been named a Rising Star in Deloitte & Touche's Technology Fast 50 program for Texas. The Technology Fast 50 program ranks the 50 fastest growing technology companies who have been in business five or more years. The Rising Star award is a special recognition for young, fast-growing companies who have been in business for three to four years and is determined by percentage revenue growth from fiscal year 2000 to 2002.
Over the past four years, Handango has grown from small startup to established leader in the wireless and mobile downloads market. The firm provides wireless and online download products and services to industry leaders Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Sprint, Cingular Wireless, Palm, Sony, Microsoft, HP, Dell and more than 100 others. Handango provides a complete source of software, games, ringtones and more for mobile phone and PDA users.
"The Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 50 Rising Star companies have shown the strength, vision and temerity to succeed despite a very challenging technology environment," said Skip Moore, Regional Managing Partner of Technology, Media & Telecommunications for Deloitte. "We applaud the successes of Handango and acknowledge their place as one of the very few to accomplish such a fast growth rate over the past three years."
"To be recognized as a Rising Star in Deloitte and Touche's Technology Fast 50 program is an honor," said Laura Rippy, Chief Executive Officer of Handango. "We owe this success to our top-notch developer community, fantastic licensees and stellar team of employees."
To qualify for the Technology Fast 50 Rising Star program for Texas, companies must be headquartered in Texas. Companies must also have operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2000 and $1,000,000 in 2002 and be a technology company defined as owning proprietary technology that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues (using other companies' technology in a unique way does not qualify); and/or devoting a significant proportion of revenues to research and development of technology.
Rising Star winners for Texas are automatically entered in the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500 program's Rising Star category. The Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500 ranks North America's top 500 fastest growing technology companies. Like the Technology Fast 50 program, the Rising Star rankings for the Technology Fast 500 program are based on revenue growth over three years (2000-2002).
