Handango Announces People’s Choice Award Winners
HURST, Texas – September 29, 2003 – Handango, the leading provider of mobile downloads, announced the winners of Handango’s “People’s Choice” awards today. The “People’s Choice” awards are designed to honor those applications that provide customers the best in quality software. Over the course of several months on Handango’s Web site (www.handango.com), Handango customers cast their votes for their favorite J2ME™, Symbian OS™, Palm OS® and Pocket PC applications. The developer of each winning application will receive marketing promotions from Handango with a value in excess of $5,000 (USD) as well as right to the title “The People’s Choice.”

People’s Choice voting has been available for the past year on the Handango Web site. More than 35,000 applications for J2ME, Symbian OS, Palm OS and Pocket PC phones and PDAs were eligible to receive votes. To vote, customers must register to be a Handango Member. After this, members could vote for as many software titles as they liked, but each member was allowed only one vote per product. Voting was halted at midnight central daylight time on Thursday, September 25, 2003, so the results could be tabulated.
Due to the overwhelming success of the inaugural “People’s Choice” awards, Handango has reopened voting for next year’s “People’s Choice” awards. The next group of winners will be announced in March 2004.
“Hosting the Handango’s “People’s Choice” awards biannually allows new software applications the chance to shine and provides both novice and experienced mobile software users a constant voice,” said Clint Patterson, vice president of marketing of Handango. “With such an outstanding response from our customers this year, we expect next year’s awards to be that much more competitive.”
