PalmGear Unveils StreamLync 2.0 Auto-Install and Updating Utility

FRANKLIN, Tenn. & DURHAM, N.C.--PalmGear, Inc., the world's largest and longest running commercial Internet site devoted to third-party software solutions for the Palm OS platform, today announced the release of StreamLync 2.0. StreamLync 2.0 is the much anticipated update of StreamLync, the breakthrough auto-install and updating utility that allows for true "plug and play" by offering the simplest installation process for adding software to your Palm OS handheld or smartphone.

StreamLync 2.0 streamlines the management of software on your handheld through integrated Palm-based and web-based utilities. StreamLync 2.0's device-based catalog and management interfaces enable users to find and manage software directly from their handheld. The process is even easier for smartphone or WiFi users and users with a Bluetooth connection to a Bluetooth capable wireless phone. Users can download the latest applications directly to their device without requiring access to a desktop PC. Featured demos of best-selling applications are made available right on the handheld so users can install or re-install software wirelessly. For those not using a wireless device, StreamLync 2.0 will automatically install the software chosen directly to the handheld during the next HotSync.

"By eliminating the cumbersome process of downloading files for installation from a desktop PC, StreamLync 2.0 simplifies the process of adding content to your handheld or smartphone," said Kenny West, senior vice president of site administration at PalmGear, Inc. "Users love the ability to load content directly to their handheld or smartphone including the newest applications, most recently updated applications and application watch lists."

StreamLync 2.0 is also tightly integrated with the PalmGear.com storefront and a user's "My PalmGear" account, allowing users to maintain their software on an ongoing basis. Before purchase, "Watch Lists" can be created to allow users the ability to be up to date with new information on products they are interested in. Once a user has made a purchase, "Purchased Products" are remembered allowing for both an easy reinstall with one click and an automatic update of all new releases of their applications. Finally, StreamLync 2.0 monitors past trial downloads to make it easy to upgrade a title or re-install a previously purchased title.

"It's never been easier for Palm users to stay up-to-date with their favorite software," explained Michael T. Ashby, director, International Palm Users Group (InterPUG). "StreamLync 2.0 allows Palm users to easily manage their Palm OS software through the web or directly from their Palm device. There is nothing else like it on the market today."

StreamLync 2.0 is available free of charge from www.streamlync.com.
