OMANTEL SELECTS LogicaCMG’S NEXT GENERATION MULTIMEDIA MESSAGING INFRASTRUCTURE
LogicaCMG today announced it has been selected to provide a Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) solution to Omantel, the sole mobile and fixed line network operator serving the Sultanate of Oman. This is a key multimedia messaging deal for LogicaCMG in the Middle East and it was won through LogicaCMG’s association with Siemens Mobile Networks, its strategic partner in the region.
Omantel will launch an advanced multimedia messaging service in Oman using LogicaCMG’s Next Generation Multimedia Messaging Service Centre to enable corporate and private subscribers to exchange multimedia content across Omantel, and international networks. LogicaCMG’s transcoding capability was an important deciding factor as it automatically identifies and resolves any conflict in the media formats supported by the sending and receiving MMS device, ensuring consumers experience the high quality and high value that they demand and that operators want to provide. The solution is part of LogicaCMG’s flexible, high capacity Next Generation Messaging offering, allowing Omantel to deploy new revenue-generating services quickly and reliably.

Through this MMS solution, Omantel realises the next step in the evolution of its wireless messaging offering, adding a rich media experience to the currently deployed LogicaCMG SMS solution. Both solutions are a part of LogicaCMG’s Next Generation Messaging offering. This offering optimises cost of ownership and time to market through an IP based architecture and common functions such as Subscriber Provisioning, Market Reporting and Customer Care, uniform across advanced messaging services.
