Electric Pocket Launches BugMe! Notepad for Palm Powered Handhelds
WYE VALLEY, U.K.-April 6, 2004--
Electric Pocket's BugMe! has long been one of the most popular applications for handhelds and smartphones and has been heralded as a "timeless classic." BugMe! for Palm OS(R), which has prompted millions of people to draw sketches and jot quick reminders on their handheld screens, has been completely redesigned and is today being re-launched as BugMe! Notepad. This latest version includes a host of new features such as scrollable notes, bundled clip-art and distinctive alarm sounds. BugMe! Notepad also enables users to share notes by email, MMS or Bluetooth or save them to memory cards for use in documents and email messages.

BugMe! has always been known as the premier "Sticky Note" application for jotting handwritten notes, creating sketches and setting reminder alarms. BugMe! Notepad retains the original's simple premise, but has refined it significantly to take advantage of the media rich capabilities of today's handhelds and greatly increase the note-taking options available to users. It also delivers on the promise of scrollable notes, the feature that has been most requested by BugMe! users, enabling the creation of notes that are larger than the screens of the devices.
BugMe! Notepad offers users a number of exciting ways to augment the information already on their handhelds, by annotating it with digital ink or using it as the basis of a timed reminder. BugMe! Notepad can take a screenshot from any Palm OS application, which can be annotated and set as an alarm. For example, users checking voicemail can take a "snapshot" of their contact's Address Book record, handwrite a note about the message that was left and set a timed reminder to place a return call. BugMe! Notepad will enable users to capture all the relevant information from such voicemail messages on a single BugMe! note.
BugMe! Notepad enables users to import pictures and other graphics from memory cards which can form the basis of doodles, email or MMS messages. For example, a tradeshow attendee can import a map of an exhibition hall, and jot meeting times and locations underneath. Any note created with BugMe! Notepad can be saved to a memory card in jpg format and used at a desktop PC as part of a document or email message or printed as a record.
BugMe! Notepad comes complete with a collection of clip-art images that can be placed anywhere on a BugMe! note. Bundled clip-art, which includes arrows, business symbols and smiley faces, allows users to personalize their notes. Many report that their children love to doodle on BugMe! notes, and clip art will make their artistic experience even more enjoyable. Further, an assortment of 'wav' alarm sounds is included with BugMe! Notepad, enabling users to set distinctive BugMe! alarms for each of their notes.
BugMe! Notepad is an excellent add-on for smartphones or other wireless devices, as phone numbers, email addresses and Web site URLs are recognized as such within BugMe! notes and will initiate the appropriate action when tapped (dialing numbers, opening Web browsers or launching email programs). This new capability is sure to inspire a number of imaginative uses; for example, a user can enter the URL of an eBay auction into a BugMe! note with a reminder set just prior to the end of the auction enabling him to place his winning bid as the auction expires.
