Zaxis(TM) Technologies Announces Its priZm(TM) Solution

SAN DIEGO, April 21 -- Zaxis Technologies, Inc., a developer of porting solutions for wireless applications for mobile phones, today announced priZm, a solution that addresses major challenges of handset variation and lack of compatibility. The priZm solution aids BREW developers in porting applications to a wide range of mobile devices.

With priZm, a developer creates a single version of an application and submits it to Zaxis for processing. Zaxis developed priZm based on expertise the company gained in its completion of more than 100 BREW ports to date. priZm also incorporates submission requirements from operators and the National Software Test Laboratory (NSTL), a test lab that performs TRUE BREW(TM) testing. This pre-testing decreases failure rates and further streamlines the submission process.

"priZm benefits BREW publishers and developers by enabling their applications to reach a broader audience of operators faster and more efficiently, which could increase the revenues generated by each application," said Magda Remillard, CEO and Founder of Zaxis. "Our priZm solution enables BREW developers to target the complete, growing array of BREW-enabled devices with ease."

With priZm, applications are developed for each handset by generating a separate version of the application, customized to meet specific device feature and functionality requirements such as the release version of the BREW solution on the handset, variations in firmware, memory and processing power, screen size and resolution, key mapping, sound processing and network capabilities.

"We're very pleased to see Zaxis bring its priZm solution to the marketplace of BREW-based products and services and are happy with the support they are providing to application publishers and developers looking to expedite the porting of BREW-based applications to a wide range of handsets," said Mike Yuen, director of BREW developer relations for QUALCOMM Internet Services. "The priZm tool is a nice complement to the BREW solution and is yet another advantage offered to companies interested in bringing their content to the millions of wireless subscribers around the world."

The priZm solution consists of the following components and processes:

* Portability Assessment: A submitted reference application is analyzed for a wide range of portability issues related to device attributes.

* Code Instrumentation: The application code is instrumented in such a way that executables can be generated for multiple mobile platform targets (handsets).

* Generation: Multiple executables are generated, customized, localized and validated to support the characteristics of each target device.

* Handset Updates: New handsets attributes data are added to the priZm device library as they are introduced by manufacturers.

The priZm solution is based on the proprietary intellectual property created by Zaxis Technologies, Inc. through its extensive expertise and experience in porting mobile applications across multiple handsets.

QUALCOMM's BREW system provides products and services that connect the mobile marketplace value chain, which includes application developers, publishers, content providers, device manufacturers, operators and consumers.

Publishers and developers worldwide are generating revenue from BREW-based applications and content, and 25 manufacturers have offered more than 120 BREW-enabled device models to consumers. Many very successful operators have deployed commercial BREW-based wireless data services, including Verizon Wireless, ALLTEL, Cellular One, MetroPCS, Midwest Wireless and U.S. Cellular in the United States; China Unicom, KDDI in Japan, KTF in South Korea, Hutchison Wireless CAT in Thailand, Telstra in Australia, VIVO in Brazil, BellSouth Chile, BellSouth Colombia, BellSouth Ecuador, Bell South Guatemala, BellSouth Panama, BellSouth Perú, Telefonica Moviles in Peru, Movicom in Argentina, Movilnet and Telcel in Venezuela, Verizon in the Dominican Republic, Verizon Wireless Puerto Rico and Pelephone in Israel.
