Mobile Scope Licenses I, Robot™ for Mobile Entertainment

Meerbusch, Germany - April 27 2004 - Wireless entertainment publisher Mobile Scope and Twentieth Century Fox today announced a global agreement granting Mobile Scope rights to develop and distribute entertainment products for mobile devices based on the I, Robot™ feature film starring Will Smith and scheduled for release this Summer. The company plans to unveil a suite of products in time for the film’s release. Financial terms were not disclosed. The content would include images, tones and at least one game.

Based on a series of short stories by Isaac Asimov and directed by Alex Proyas (The Crow), I, Robot is a detective thriller set in a futuristic world in which robots are governed by three laws: 1) A robot may not injure a human being, or through inaction allow a human being to come to harm, 2) A robot must obey the orders of a human being, unless those orders conflict with the First Law, and 3) A robot must protect its own existence, but only if that protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

“With action-packed scenes, stunning effects and suspenseful storyline, I, ROBOT is a great property for wireless content.” said Jim Beddows, vice president of wireless entertainment for Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising Division. “Mobile Scope has already done a great job translating previous Fox theatrical releases, such as Ice Age, to mobile phones, and we anticipate that Mobile Scope will create top-selling content for I, Robot.”

"We’re thrilled to be working on a highly anticipated property like I, Robot," said Juergen Goeldner, CEO of Mobile Scope AG. "The futuristic theme of the film goes hand-in-hand with the cutting-edge technology of mobile entertainment and it opens up a lot of exciting possibilities for games."
