NanoAmp Solutions Announces Its Accelerator For Mobile Java Applications Is in Mass Production

SAN JOSE, Calif.--Aug. 4, 2004--NanoAmp Solutions, Inc. announced that its Memory Oriented Coprocessor Accelerator technology for the Java(TM) platform (MOCA-J(TM) Accelerator) is shipping to marquis customers in volume production. "Since being launched in early 2003, customer interest has been strong, culminating in several design wins," said Ron Stein, director of product marketing at NanoAmp. "The MOCA-J Accelerator enables our customers to bring wireless handsets to market capable of playing more sophisticated and more compelling Java software for longer periods of time, two qualities that are highly valued in today's marketplace. Interactive 3D games and even MPEG4 players can now be written in platform-independent Java code and run with great performance as a result of the capabilities of our accelerator."

The MOCA-J Accelerator solution favorably addresses performance and battery life by enabling handsets to achieve fast and energy-efficient execution of Java software. High performance software execution supports wireless carrier's goals of generating new and increased revenues by providing their subscribers with engaging content that can be readily downloaded via their 2.5G and 3G networks. Utilization data reveals that as much as two thirds of all mobile Java applications are games, and game play requires processing performance. Battery life is also very important to the overall viability of a portable gaming device, and even more so when that device is used for making and receiving phone calls.

Pricing, Availability
Silicon based on the MOCA-J Accelerator is available in volume production. The accelerator is available in die and packaged form. Die is generally used for integration with other components into space-saving multi-chip packages. Die pricing is based on volume and begins at $3.00 (US) per unit at a quantity of ten thousand (10,000) units.
