Azimuth W-Series Product Selected by Broadcom to Verify The Scalability, Performance And Reliability

ACTON, MA - August 9, 2004 - Azimuth Systems, Inc., innovators in scalable, automated wireless network test systems, today announced that Broadcom Corporation has adopted Azimuth’s award-winning W-Series Wireless LAN Test Platform for use in its labs. Broadcom, a leading provider of highly-integrated semiconductor solutions enabling broadband communications, is leveraging the W-Series to validate the performance and scalability of its AirForce™ Wi-Fi silicon.

“We’ve been impressed with the capabilities of Azimuth’s products for some time,” said Craig Mathias, a Principal with the wireless advisory firm Farpoint Group (Ashland, MA). “With performance becoming an ever-more-critical concern for manufacturers and customers alike, Broadcom should be well-served via Azimuth’s comprehensive set of features and services.”

Broadcom is the largest Wi-Fi chipset supplier and joins leading networking vendors, test laboratories and silicon suppliers that have standardized on the Azimuth W-Series as their WLAN testing solution of choice; Broadcom becomes the first of several WLAN silicon vendors to publicly announce its Azimuth adoption. Using the W-Series, Broadcom is validating the performance of its AirForce solutions in challenging, realistic usage scenarios that could otherwise be prohibitively complex, costly, and too imprecise to test.

“Broadcom focuses on delivering the best solutions for its customers in a timely fashion. Azimuth is proud to be a part of making that happen,” said Ray Cronin, CEO of Azimuth. “We are focused on delivering test solutions that dramatically impact time to market and increase product quality.”

The Azimuth W-Series is the first industry standard test platform for system level testing of 802.11 wireless access points, clients, and other devices. Designed from the ground up as an off-the-shelf, wireless LAN test platform, W-Series systems provide the ability to configure an entire WLAN network in a bench top chassis designed for complete Radio Frequency (RF) isolation and control. The flexibility and programmability of the W-Series allows for the thorough evaluation of wireless LAN equipment under varying conditions and traffic patterns, as well as precise analysis of the results. The system offers an ideal environment to perform software design validation and to test advanced wireless functionality including the latest IEEE standards.
