Acotel Group Launches Sports News And Entertainment Services
NEW YORK--Aug. 11, 2004--Acotel Group, the leading global provider of value-added mobile infotainment services, today announced that it is lighting the torch on its multimedia messaging services (MMS) for athletically-minded mobile users. Fans on the go can now subscribe to receive Associated Press coverage of the Athens summer games on their mobile phones as well as related sports-themed mobile entertainment in the form of ringtones, wallpapers and mobile games.
Acotel Group's sports news and entertainment services around the Athens summer games will be a combination of multimedia, text message and pay-per-download. In addition to mobile entertainment services in the form of ringtones, wallpapers and games, subscribers will be able to access breaking news and headlines, previews, schedules, results and other pre- and post-event coverage, including opening ceremonies, from AP's onsite team at the Athens summer games. The services will also offer robust mobile multimedia enhancements such as:
Games Previews - Overviews, capsules by sport and topical features on torch relays, security, and more
Photos - Hundreds of images including action shots of all sports
Audio Clips - Pre- and post-game reports
Interactives - Flash packages on history, equipment, venues, timelines and top photos
Starting August 13th, mobile users can subscribe to Acotel's sports and entertainment services around the Athens summer games by sending a text message containing the words 'SPORTS ON' to the number 69999. Beginning the following day, news and information from the Athens summer games will be delivered to the subscriber's mobile handset as it happens, each day, seven days a week as a premium Short Messaging Service (SMS). Alternatively, mobile users can choose between two different subscription-based packages for the duration of the Athens summer games. These subscription packages provide users a complete set of services including Daily SMS, for breaking news from Athens, and Daily MMS, or Multi-Media Messages, containing schedules, medal tables, picture albums, exciting stories and funny moments as well as sports entertainment-related content.
Acotel Group's sports and entertainment services around the Athens summer games will be available in the US to mobile subscribers of all the major carriers between August 13th and August 30th, 2004.
