Voicesignal’s Latest Speech Recognition Software Ships on The Sendo X Multimedia Smartphone
Woburn, MA – August 12, 2004 – VoiceSignal today announced that it has begun shipping the latest speaker-independent speech recognition solution on the Sendo X multimedia smartphone. The Sendo X is now available in France, Italy and the Netherlands, with full roll out continuing in the UK, Spain and Portugal over the summer months, and is the first GSM phone to ship in Europe with VoiceSignal’s multi-language speech recognition software. The Sendo X includes the latest features from VoiceSignal including Speaker-Independent Name Dialing, which allow users to dial by simply speaking the name into the phone. The Sendo X phone is also the first mobile phone that allows users to launch VoiceSignal’s speech recognition application from a wireless Bluetooth headset, giving mobile phone users even more flexibility in the way they use their phone and speech recognition.
Hugh Brogan, Chief Executive Officer of Sendo comments, “Sendo has built a solid business in the consumer phone market and is committed to providing consumers with wireless devices that are easy to use and offer the highest quality technology. We believe that as mobile phones become increasingly sophisticated, speaker-independent speech recognition will make these converged devices more convenient and fun to use. This will also allow consumers to take advantage of all the exciting new features we are developing for handsets like the Sendo X smartphone. We are excited to work with VoiceSignal and bring this new technology to our customers.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Sendo to bring our advanced speech recognition solution to the European market,” says Rich Geruson, VoiceSignal’s Chief Executive Officer. “It has always been our goal to simplify the user experience and we feel that the European GSM marketplace will benefit greatly from VoiceSignal’s applications.”
