WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

MFORMA Acquires FingerTwitch

BELLEVUE, WA and SAN FRANCISCO, CA — August 19, 2004 — MFORMA Group Inc., a leading global provider of wireless entertainment, has acquired FingerTwitch, Inc. of San Francisco, a pioneering developer of advanced porting and quality assurance processes for the mobile entertainment industry. FingerTwitch is an industry leader in porting mobile applications to multiple devices and platforms and has developed proven technologies and methodologies for enabling mobile applications to play on both Java and BREW platforms and virtually every wireless handset.

“MFORMA has worked with many of the leading porting and QA houses in both the U.S. and Europe and FingerTwitch has presented the most advanced and best-developed technology solution for porting mobile applications across handsets and platforms,” said John Brimacombe, MFORMA president. “They are able to scale to accomplish hundreds of ports per month, making them an extremely valuable part of our production cycle as we deliver dozens of applications to more than 100 operators worldwide. FingerTwitch has demonstrated that they can reliably manage the delivery of high quality ports in huge volume. Now that our two companies have merged, we will be able to increase our output significantly across the full range of mobile devices.”

The FingerTwitch acquisition gives MFORMA access to key technology as well as outstanding talent. Jimmy Giliberti, FingerTwitch’s CEO, will become head of MFORMA’s porting and QA department, based in San Francisco. Giliberti and his team have specialized in tuning mobile applications for optimal performance. They have developed tools and compiled a comprehensive index of handset characteristics and known bugs, which enables them to produce rich interactive experiences across the full range of handsets, from high-end smartphones to low-end mass-market phones with weaker processors and underpowered configurations. MFORMA and FingerTwitch are in the process of integrating and streamlining their porting and QA operations to accommodate the growing demand for mobile applications from wireless carriers and media companies around the world.

“FingerTwitch has demonstrated their ability to port complex applications and games to mobile phones with widely varying configurations,” said Brimacombe. “While there is no solution that completely automates this porting process, FingerTwitch presents the best solution, combining technology with expertise in tuning applications, a skill they’ve developed to a very high level. We’ve worked with dozens of porting companies and FingerTwitch has consistently been the best quality shop, delivering product that requires less time in QA and reduces time to market.”

“We are thrilled to be part of MFORMA, the world-leader in mobile entertainment,” said Jimmy Giliberti.

Stephen M. Haney, President of FingerTwitch added, “Fragmentation presents a major impediment to wide-scale deployment in our industry and FingerTwitch provides an advanced solution to this problem. We are delighted that, together, we will make MFORMA’s applications available to the widest possible audience of mobile users around the world.”
