Drivers Put the Pedal to the Metal with Vindigo Traffic
NEW YORK--Aug. 23, 2004--Vindigo Studios, one of the best-known publishers of consumer applications for mobile devices, today announced the launch of Vindigo Traffic(TM), a personalized traffic service for wireless subscribers provided by ATX, one of the largest providers of telematic services for the automotive industry.
Vindigo Traffic's fully customizable service includes automated text alerts and continuously updated information. The subscription service also features estimated wait time for traffic jams and interactive color maps with flags marking delays caused by construction or accidents.
"When you're mobile, it's critical to have up-to-the-minute traffic information," said Jason Devitt, chief executive officer of Vindigo Studios. "And it's not always convenient to wait for the next traffic report. Like our other products, Vindigo Traffic provides all the information that people need, when they need it. In this case, it's before they start to commute or even when they're stuck in traffic."
Unlike its competitors, Vindigo Traffic offers an automatic text alert functionality. Subscribers can set the service to notify them via SMS with real-time information on traffic delays depending on their individual preferences. These options include designated routes, time of day, and three levels of alerts. Messages provide the cause and length of delays.
"The ability to deliver timely traffic alerts is crucial," emphasized Ron West, vice president of sales and marketing, ATX. "ATX has several years' experience delivering real-time traffic reports to vehicles and drivers, and particularly value alerts, which help most when the unexpected happens and informs commuters of only what impacts them. The result is personalized, actionable information--in advance."
