5G Wireless Tests Public Safety Network for City of Oxnard, CA
MARINA DEL REY, Calif.--Aug. 30, 2004--5G Wireless Communications, Inc. (OTCBB:FGWC) announced today that it has successfully completed a high-speed data link for the City of Oxnard, California to provide a broadband wireless network for police and public safety operations.
"One of the network's first real applications was to insure the safety of a citywide 4th of July holiday celebration," stated Don Boudewyn, 5G Wireless Executive Vice President. "The system provided a 4-mile, non-line-of-sight link to a mobile command and control center which relayed the connection to the city's network operations center for immediate processing of critical data for police officers who patrolled the area."
"We pursued a wireless solution given our coastal terrain and crowd-related public safety concerns," added Corey Hubbert, Oxnard City Network Engineer. "5G offered us a proven and reliable package of enhanced WiFi capabilities that were quickly deployed and easily administered. They provided the coverage we needed with a minimum of equipment."
