WirelessDevNet.com Press Release
Syniverse and GPSTracks Launch GlobalPetFinder
TAMPA, Fla.--Dec. 2, 2004--
Syniverse Technologies (http://www.syniverse.com), a leading provider of mission-critical technology services to wireless telecommunication companies worldwide, and GPSTracks today announced the launch of GlobalPetFinder to provide pet owners with the ability to remotely monitor their pets' location. As one of the world's only patented global positioning system (GPS) pet locater devices, GlobalPetFinder utilizes Syniverse's Mobile Device Control Services (Mobile DCS) to send an SMS identifying the pet's location directly to a mobile device such as a GSM mobile phone, pager or PDA.
GlobalPetFinder allows the pet's owner to set safe boundaries within which the pet can roam and notifies the owner if the pet wanders outside of the boundary. The GlobalPetFinder device is worn as a collar, operates on three rechargeable AAA batteries and alerts the owner when the batteries are low.
"GlobalPetFinder is a unique telemetry application that provides pet owners with the peace of mind and assurance of their pets' safety and location," said Linda Hermansen, vice president - business development, Syniverse. "Today's mobile society has created the opportunity to use telemetry services to create compelling consumer and business applications. With more than fifteen years of providing network connectivity, clearinghouse services and call processing, Syniverse is well positioned to quickly enable new types of applications such as GlobalPetFinder that monitor property and transmit data from remote locations."
"GPSTracks' strategic partnership with Syniverse will provide pet owners with a comprehensive global pet monitoring solution," said Jennifer Durst, CEO, GPSTracks. "Syniverse's Mobile DCS expands the capabilities of telemetry. It is a robust offering that provides the network connectivity, SMS message delivery, reporting for retail billing, and mobile device transaction processing that we need to bring GlobalPetFinder to the market quickly and cost-effectively."
Syniverse's Mobile DCS provides the service framework to build Internet-based telemetry applications, including national GSM network coverage, roaming agreement management between providers, and flexibility in end-user billing to create customized service packages for subscribers. Telemetry providers can leverage Syniverse's network connectivity and relationships with nearly all major North American mobile operators.
