Final Days to Enter Applications for Wireless Contest
Vancouver, BC, February 12, 2004 – WINBC along with key partners Nokia, Telus Mobility and Leading Edge BC, is reminding application developers that the deadline for the Wireless Innovation Contest 2004 is just days away.
The competition gives contestants the chance to measure up their applications against other commercial and student developments. It presents five categories for participants to enter their developed (an original commercial release of less than six months) application using PCS, WiFi, Bluetooth and/or any other industry accepted standard in a connected wireless environment:
1. Games and Entertainment
2. Business: an application designed to solve a business need
3. Public Sector: an application designed to meet the needs of
healthcare,
Government, educational institutions, etc.
4. Collaboration: an application that resulted from the collaboration
of
two or more businesses or organizations
5. Student: student entries that fall into one of the above four
categories.
Student entries will be judged against other student entries only.

The category winners will have their entries reviewed by an Industry Mentor Panel and the opportunity to present their applications to some of the key players in the wireless industry. That panel includes:

The contest culminates in an Awards presentation and wireless voting for the Grand Winner at the ASI Exchange, March 9, 2004 www.asiexchange.bc.ca.
During the Exchange there will be a Wireless Showcase and a special CEO Dinner.
Current contest partners include: Nokia, Telus Mobility, BDC Venture Capital, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, National Research Council-IRAP, Canadian Advanced Technology Association, Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association, Sierra Wireless, FatPort and Corporate Recruiters.
