Passport VoiceXML partners with U-Voice to organize VoiceXML Business Strategy Seminar
Monaco, Haarlem, February, 2004 – Passport VoiceXML and U-Voice announce a partnership to promote VoiceXML in Northern Europe. With its technical sessions, Passport VoiceXML has trained many speech application developers and contributed to the adoption of VoiceXML as the preferred standard for developing speech applications.
Passport VoiceXML has developed a VoiceXML Business Strategy Seminar for companies planning their speech strategy. The seminar lays out the role and application of VoiceXML in the speech application value chain. U-Voice’s experience in the telecommunications and contact-centre industry helped focus the seminar on problems that strategy planners face today.
VoiceXML is a dialogue programming language issued by the W3C and akin to web languages. It has been created by major industry players to facilitate the implementation of speech-enabled services independently of the supporting infrastructure. VoiceXML gave birth to a growing community of developers building portable speech applications, industrialized within an emerging VoiceXML ecosystem.
“We have used our knowledge to enable VoiceXML pioneers develop the market,” said Sander Kruger, driving force behind this initiative. “Now we are shifting our focus to include management and strategic planners to make VoiceXML as mainstream as the WWW. The coming of age of VoiceXML coincides with a new economic impulse in the telecommunications industry. This is the time to invest in VoiceXML.” Maarten Burgering added: “U-voice considers the partnership with Passport VoiceXML as an opportunity to educate a broader audience in Northern Europe about the VoiceXML standard, its possibilities, and speech technology in a broader sense.”
Passport VoiceXML, the initiative of partners MAP Telecom, Dexem, Eurekasoft and VoxPilot, provides professional training in the industrial application of VoiceXML to develop speech-enabled services. It’s three programs ‘Introduction’, ‘Professional’ and ‘Expert’ are taught regularly in Sophia Antipolis and Paris, while the ‘à la Carte’ program can be organized at the company’s premises. The Business Strategy Seminar will tour major European cities.
