REALEYES3D: "HANDWRITTEN" MESSAGING TO MAKE MMS COMPULSIVE AND REVENUE GENERATING
3GSM, Hall 2, Stand F17, Cannes, France - February 23rd 2004, Realeyes3D, the innovative pioneer in messaging-centric applications for camera phones, today officially launched its first range of handwritten messaging applications, Phone2Fun(tm).
Recognizing the void that exists in MMS traffic from camera phones, Realeyes3D has looked to combine the simplicity of pure messaging with mobile imaging to develop handwritten messaging as a highly personal application which stimulates repeat usage amongst users.
Phone2Fun Digitizer(tm) and Phone2Fun w-Postcard(tm) are the first in a series of embedded applications designed to complement existing MMS services. The applications allow a mobile user to take a picture of their handwritten message, digitize it, manipulate it, and even overlay it against other images. Users are able to send their handwritten messages or digitize information such as notes, drawings, newspaper advertisements or printed pages as if their phone was a scanner.
Realeyes3D's w-Postcard application allows the user to create their own personalised wireless postcards "on-the-spot" by adding handwritten or scanned comments to images they have taken, and send them immediately to friends and loved ones over MMS.
"Industry experts predict that 40%-70% of all new phones sold by 2005 will be camera-enabled. However, many operators have been unable to benefit fully from this growing trend in mobile imaging," says Benoit Bergeret, CEO of Realeyes3D.
"MMS traffic has remained low, partially due to the use-once, novelty factor of the camera phone. As has already been proved in the Asian market, simply adding new features to the camera is not a compelling enough reason to send more MMS. Users want fun, personalisation and ease-of-use if MMS is to truly catch-on. We are delivering the first MMS application to get to the heart of consumer behaviour and give operators a real repeat revenue generating opportunity."
"Our present and future products enable new revenue streams through the introduction of new services, and contribute to the generation of incremental data traffic resulting in better margins for operators. They enable new billable applications, for the benefit of both content providers and operators," finishes Bergeret.
Recently awarded the DemoGOD award in September 2003 (San Diego, USA), Realeyes3D will present at the 3GSM 'Cutting Edge Promise' Award on Monday, February 23rd at 13h15.
Phone2Fun Digitizer
As a simple end user application embedded in the terminal, Phone2Fun Digitizer(tm) enables camera phone users to create and send handwritten messages containing anything you can imagine with a standard pen and paper. Examples range from scribbles, sketches, maps, notes, drawings to anything a mobile user may choose to create and send, with their own personal touch. In addition, Phone2Fun Digitizer(tm) can act as portable "scanner" for short pre-printed matter such as articles, ads, or artifacts.
Phone2Fun w-Postcard
Phone 2Fun w-Postcard(tm) enables camera phones users to create their own, personalized picture messages "on the spot", by adding hand-written or scanned comments and artifacts to the images they shoot. By enabling personalization and creating a successful messaging experience, w-Postcard(tm) enables high levels of personalization and increases MMS traffic to other mobile users or to email accounts.
