Global Locate and Infineon Join Forces to Offer A-GPS Mobile Phone Platform
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 23 Global Locate Inc., a leading provider of assisted GPS semiconductor and network products has successfully integrated its IndoorGPSŪ chip set into the Infineon (NYSE: IFX; FWB: IFX) multimedia platform which supports UMTS, EDGE and GPRS cellular standards. Working handset prototypes based on the multimedia platform will be demonstrated during the 3GSM World Congress show in Cannes, France.
The Global Locate IndoorGPSŪ chipset, consisting of the GL-20000(TM)and GL-LN-22(TM) will offer multimedia platform customers Assisted GPS (A-GPS) functionality for a variety of models all based on the same architecture. The multimedia platform based on the Infineon S-GOLD family enables the designers of GSM, GPRS, EDGE and UMTS handsets to build highly optimized, A-GPS capable, form-factor phones. The design supports mobile station based, mobile station assisted and autonomous functionality and meets the A-GPS performance requirements for 3GPP.

The working handset prototypes will feature a unique fantasy-based treasure hunt game which will demonstrate the end-to-end capability of Global Locate's A-GPS product suite including the World Wide Reference Network(TM) (WWRN), A-GPS Server and integrated IndoorGPSŪ chipset. The game will be demonstrated on the 3GSM exhibit floor at the Infineon booth (Hall1, Booth #A19) throughout the trade show.
