Motient and USA Technologies Join Forces to Bring 10,000 Vending Machines Online

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. and MALVERN, Pa., Jan. 12 -- Motient Corporation (OTC: MNCP), owner and operator of the nation's largest two-way wireless data network and USA Technologies (OTC Bulletin Board: USTT), a leader in cashless transactions and network services, announced today that they are working together to bring wireless data connectivity and cashless vending to the entertainment, travel and hospitality industries across America.

The integrated solution has already been launched successfully to multiple vending markets, including a prestigious Orlando theme park for both guest and employee locations, major airports for beverage and non-traditional vending applications.

The combination of Motient wireless with the USA Technologies e-Port(TM) opens up significant opportunities for both companies. Motient provides the wireless connection to allow remote auditing, management of the vending machine and the communications platform to enable the e-Port to deliver cashless transactions including credit cards.

Wireless connectivity is expected to lower the cost of operating vending machines, while the convenience of cashless transactions has proven to increase sales and encourage users to make multiple purchases, providing the vending machine operator with incremental revenue and their customer with additional commissions.

"Together, we are working to bring 10,000 vending machines on line inside the next 12 months with Motient-enabled wireless e-Ports," said Michael D. Fabbri, Senior Vice President of Sales, of Motient Corporation. "We are dealing with very prestigious and influential companies who see wireless connectivity and the e-Port cashless transaction solution as the way to bring innovation to their vending accounts, providing greater convenience and ease of use for everybody -- the consumer and vending operator."

"With Motient as our business partner, USA Technologies can more rapidly connect vending machines located nearly anywhere in the marketplace to the internet," said Jim Turner, VP & Channel Manager Intelligent Vending(TM), USA Technologies. "With the addition of Motient wireless service our suite of communications technologies is now complete. Motient brings the three key elements required to enable connectivity to unattended points of sale -- national coverage, reliability of data transmissions and low cost."

Initial market testing has pointed to increased business opportunities in the entertainment, travel and hospitality industries where credit/debit card payments are already a preferred payment method. Testing has shown that entertainment, travel and hospitality accounts deliver incremental revenues topping as much as $1,000 per annum to both vending operators and in commissions to their customers. "This will be a major target for our joint marketing initiative over the next 12 months," said Mr. Turner.

The partnership also brings together each company's key customers and supplier partners. USA Technologies lists among its partners: IBM, Unilever, and some of the largest Coca-Cola bottling companies and full line operators in America, as well as many luxury hotel chains.
