SMART Chooses Empower Interactive to Help Handle Explosive Philippine SMS Growth
MANILA, Philippines--Jan. 21, 2004--
Empower Interactive, a trusted supplier of mobile data services infrastructure products for mobile operators, has been selected as the Application Messaging Platform provider for SMART Communications Inc, the largest mobile operator in the Philippines and one of the world's leading users of SMS technology.
Empower is delivering a high capacity, carrier grade Messaging Service Platform (MSP), which will enable SMART rapidly to add and manage hundreds of content providers using multiple protocols from a single system. The solution is also ideal for high volume, premium billed activities such as tele-voting, SMS broadcasting and media campaigns.
Thanks to Empower Interactive, SMART can now handle over 500 application messages per second. Due to the size of the SMS market in the Philippines, this will be one of the highest capacity SMS Gateways deployed by any network operator anywhere in the world.
Furthermore, it is expected that the system will be scaled to a throughput of between 1000 and 1500 messages per second within the next year, in line with SMART's SMS growth forecasts.
