Citrix GoToMyPC Gives Samsung's Mobile Pocket PC Phone Users Secure, Anytime, Anywhere Access
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--July 20, 2004--Mobile professionals looking for the ultimate mobility solution, can now access their entire desktop PC using Samsung's SPH-i700 Microsoft(R) Windows Mobile(TM) Pocket PC Phone with Citrix(R) GoToMyPC(R) from Citrix Online, a division of Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS). Available through Verizon Wireless, the combination of the i700 and GoToMyPC allows users to view and control their entire PC desktop, unlike other handheld remote solutions that offer only limited access to calendar and e-mail.
GoToMyPC's PocketView feature provides fast, easy and secure access to a computer desktop -- including all files, applications, network resources, and even non-Web content -- from a PDA running Microsoft Windows Mobile or Microsoft Windows CE 4x. Designed with ease of use in mind, its real-time screen-sharing interface provides an intuitive remote desktop usage experience. Features include scaling, image rotation for landscape viewing, and one-click scrolling to enable faster movement around the desktop. GoToMyPC on the i700 is extremely intuitive to deploy and use, no special IT support or training is required.
"Samsung's commitment of providing the best mobile enterprise devices in the market is furthered by the GoToMyPC solution that enables mobile professionals to work from anywhere while having full access to their desktop PCs from their i700," said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president of Samsung's wireless terminals division. "The i700 is the ultimate productivity tool because it puts your office in the palm of your hands."
Bullet-Proof Security
GoToMyPC's Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with 128-bit keys provides a protected platform for the highest levels of security, whether for accessing desktop and network resources, preparing presentations, or modifying documents. Security features also include one-time passwords, end-to-end user authentication, screen blanking, and mouse locking of the host computer. And since data accessed over the i700 never actually resides on the handheld device, users don't have to worry about the potential loss or theft of their PDAs.
"We're confident that this solution will drive greater demand for the i700 PocketPC," said John Greathouse, senior vice president of strategic alliances for Citrix Online. "Mobile professionals who need 24/7 anywhere, anytime handheld access to their desktop can do so in a highly secure environment with the i700 and GoToMyPC. Security is of utmost importance to Citrix Online and it is especially significant for wireless devices such as the i700."
Samsung customers who wish to experience GoToMyPC with the i700 can do so through the device's Pocket Internet Explorer Web browser over the Verizon Wireless NationalAccess data network.
