Cirond AirPatrol Enterprise Heralds New Era in Wireless Network Security Market
SAN JOSE, Calif.--July 22, 2004--
Cirond Corporation (OTCBB:CROO) today announced that it will begin shipping its new AirPatrol Enterprise wireless network security solution on August 1, 2004 at a price of $6,995. This comprehensive software and hardware solution is designed meet the growing danger posed to existing wired computer networks by the creation of unauthorized wireless networks. It is aimed at serving the needs of a market that industry analysts suggest has grown by almost 400 per cent over the past year and is now worth more than $100 million annually.
"A single unauthorized wireless network device -- costing as little as $50 -- can blow a security hole in a wired network that a company may have spent tens of thousands of dollars -- or more -- to secure," said Cirond CEO and president Nicholas Miller. "Using AirPatrol Enterprise, companies can not only detect, but also precisely locate the use of any wireless devices in their organization -- and then take appropriate action."
Cirond AirPatrol Enterprise automatically and constantly scans the wired network for the presence of any wireless access points and includes a 50-user site license for the recently-announced Cirond AirSafe wireless client application, which ensures that any Windows XP-based mobile computer on which it is installed is prevented from ever wirelessly sharing an authenticated wired network connection.
Companies can also buy Cirond AirPatrol Sensors to enhance the quality and breadth of their wireless detection coverage. These sensors, priced at $495 each, enhance wireless device detection by constantly scanning for the existence of wireless data traffic within an office. Cirond recommends a minimum of four sensors be installed for use with Cirond AirPatrol Enterprise.
AirPatrol Enterprise lets companies combat the wireless security threat today, by instantly detecting unauthorized wireless devices and actually showing exactly where they are -- right on a company's floor plan -- so the network administrator can take action immediately. It also provides the technological foundation for Cirond's new corporate strategy, which is focused primarily on providing network security to meet the security threat represented by wireless networks.
