American Idol Phone Operations Awarded to Octane Technologies
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Outsourcing is hitting the mobile market, and one firm seems to capitalizing on the trend. Global sourcing firm Octane Technologies announced recently and by case-study at I Wireless World that it has been selected to manage the entire wireless operations for Artist Communications’ exclusive American Idol phone. Octane, a San Francisco based firm, is handling customer support, software development, and fulfillment for the prominent TV show’s official cell phones.
The branded Nokia 3200 and Nokia 3300 phones are being sold in Sam Goody, Media Play, and Suncoast stores around the country and include messages, pictures, and ring tones featuring caustic American Idol judge Simon Cowell. The phones also feature exclusive content from the show and early access to tickets for this summer’s widely anticipated "Idol" finalists’ tour.
Octane was chosen to manage the wireless operations for the high-profile phone largely because its global capabilities allow it to provide a highly tailored service offering at an affordable price. When consumers walk into any retail outlet or call an 800 number to purchase the phone, they are directed to Octane’s Bangalore, India based call center specialists who navigate a detailed process to activate the phones on AT&T Wireless’s network. Octane’s agents answer all customer inquiries about the phone, explain benefits available to American Idol fans, and troubleshoot issues for existing customers. To service customers, Octane’s specialists utilize an intricate software system, which seamlessly interfaces with AT&T Wireless’s IT infrastructure. With its call center in Bangalore, software development facilities in Calcutta, and fulfillment center in South Dakota, Octane has truly “gone global” to manage Idol’s wireless operations.
