Nextel Partners Expands GPS Navigation Services Through Televigation Partnership
KIRKLAND, Wash.--June 2, 2004--Nextel Partners, Inc. (Nasdaq:NXTP), the exclusive provider of Nextel digital wireless communications services in the mid-sized and rural markets it serves, announced the availability of TeleNav(R), a mobile-phone based GPS navigation service powered by Televigation, to its customers. TeleNav significantly expands location-based services offered by Nextel Partners, which joins Nextel Communications Inc. (Nasdaq:NXTL) to become the only wireless carriers to offer a GPS navigation service.
TeleNav provides affordable, real-time visual and audio GPS driving directions to guide subscribers to their destination. Using a built-in or attached GPS receiver and a Nextel phone, TeleNav determines the driver's location and computes the most direct route to a desired location. TeleNav users can enter their destination for anywhere in the continental U.S. on the Nextel Nationwide Network and receive up-to-the-minute guidance through voice automation, including the distance to upcoming turns.

In addition to the GPS-enabled navigation system, benefits of the TeleNav system include the ability to locate the nearest gas station or other business, automatic re-routing should a turn be missed, and full-color maps. Because it is attached to the phone, Nextel Partners' subscribers can take their TeleNav system with them, whether they are out hiking, or riding in someone else's car.

The new service extends location-enhanced wireless services currently offered to Nextel Partners customers, including the ability for companies with mobile workers, such as those in the service and transportation trades, to track the location, speed and number of stops made by their fleets, schedule maintenance reports, and enable two-way messaging between dispatchers and mobile workers with Nextel Internet-capable phones.
