Namco & Atlas Offer Ms. Pac-Man On BREW-Enabled Phones
SAN DIEGO, June 8 -- Namco America, one of the industry's
premier multi-platform game publishers, and Atlas Mobile, a leader in mobile,
skills-based multiplayer tournament games, today announced a partnership to
create and publish MS. PAC-MAN(R) Tournaments for Prizes(TM) for BREW-enabled
mobile phones. MS. PAC-MAN Tournaments for Prizes will be available for
commercial release to mobile operators in the third quarter of 2004. This
announcement was made at the BREW 2004 Developers Conference being held
June 7-9 in San Diego.
MS. PAC-MAN, the sequel to one of the most popular and enduring titles in
the history of video games, pits the title character on a quest to move
through mazes and collect dots and fruit while avoiding ghosts. In this
update on the wildly successful classic, mobile phone users will have the
opportunity to compete for fun and prizes in continuous head-to-head and
progressive skills-based tournaments.
Leveraging Atlas Mobile's tournament network and expertise, MS. PAC-MAN
Tournaments for Prizes is the first title in the PAC-MAN series to allow
players to win prizes such as CDs, DVDs and gift cards by winning tournaments
against other mobile phone users. To ensure fairness, contestants will always
play identical mazes as their opponents.
