WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

LocatioNet Develops Location-Based Services Extension for QUALCOMM's BREW Solution

NEW YORK--June 9, 2004--LocatioNet, the developer of a comprehensive Location-Based Service (LBS) system for the wireless market, today announced the development of an LBS extension developed for QUALCOMM's BREW(R) solution. This extension enables BREW developers to simplify and shorten their location-based application development efforts and is ideal for rendering, scrolling and zooming in and out of maps.

LocatioNet's extension technology is a total map service solution that consists of a high-level BREW API and a back-end LBS engine to render maps. The extension can be used to "abstract away" the complex world of LBS. Developers with no LBS expertise can both quickly develop LBS applications (applications in which location is the center piece), as well as "location enable" any consumer or enterprise application (applications in which rich location information, or even just a map rendered to deliver additional value).

"LocatioNet is excited to use QUALCOMM's BREW solution to build on the success of LocatioNet's LBS engine with carriers around the world," said Gadi BenMark, CEO of LocatioNet. "The LocatioNet LBS extension takes rich tools used by our own developers, and offers them to the entire BREW developer community. The BREW extension model is the ideal business and technical solution that allows us to offer our technology to developers around the world."

"QUALCOMM is pleased to be working with LocatioNet to offer its LBS extension to the BREW developer community," said Mike Yuen, director of BREW Developer Relations for QUALCOMM Internet Services. "Their LBS extension is an important piece in fully utilizing the potential of QUALCOMM's QPoint(TM) technology and enables us to supply our developers with user-friendly LBS tools to create fun and useful location-based applications."

The extension will soon be available to developers via QUALCOMM's BREW Developer Extranet as a BREW extension for the BREW 2.0 platform.

QUALCOMM's QPoint location services solution and gpsOne client technology provide the most complete server/client compatible mass-market location services solution available today. With the QPoint solution, QUALCOMM provides operators with flexible delivery options for location services - either through a hosted model or through channel partners. The QPoint solution leverages QUALCOMM's gpsOne technology which offers robust data availability under the most challenging conditions.

gpsOne technology is the world's most broadly deployed Assisted-GPS handset technology. More than 25 million wireless consumers around the world are being supported today by some 100 different gpsOne-enabled handset models, and more than 140 precision LBS applications.

QUALCOMM's BREW solution provides products and services that connect the mobile marketplace value chain, which includes publishers, developers, content providers, device manufacturers, operators and consumers.

Publishers and developers worldwide are generating revenue from BREW-based applications and content, and 26 manufacturers have offered more than 135 BREW-enabled device models to consumers. BREW is successfully enabling the commercial wireless data services of many successful operators, including Verizon Wireless, ALLTEL, Cellular One, MetroPCS, Midwest Wireless, NTELOS and U.S. Cellular in the United States, China Unicom, KDDI in Japan, KTF in South Korea, Hutch in Thailand, Telstra in Australia, VIVO in Brazil, BellSouth Chile, BellSouth Colombia, BellSouth Ecuador, BellSouth Guatemala, BellSouth Nicaragua, BellSouth Panama, BellSouth Peru, Telefonica Moviles in Peru, Movicom in Argentina, Telcel and Movilnet in Venezuela, Verizon Dominican Republic, Verizon Wireless Puerto Rico, Pelephone in Israel and Zapp in Romania.
