TeleSym Partners with RSA Security to Integrate PKI Authentication Technology

CHICAGO--June 22, 2004-- RSA Keon(R) digital certificate management solution provides SymPhone Enterprise VoIP System with secure verification for a highly mobile workforce

TeleSym today unveiled its SymPhone Enterprise VoIP System, the third generation of its software for making voice calls from mobile computers.

With new provisions for security, standards support and interoperability, SymPhone complements the VoIP infrastructure from the full range of manufacturers and telecommunications suppliers. The new SymPhone release features RSA Keon(R) digital certificate management technology from RSA Security.

"As Internet telephony and demands for mobility grow rapidly, the biggest gap we hear is the need for enterprise-grade security," explains Bob Hart, chief executive officer, TeleSym. "By working with RSA Security, we have incorporated a leading authentication solution, giving IT and telecommunications managers what they need to securely roll-out mobile VoIP. TeleSym is excited to be offering the first application of integrated enterprise-grade security and authentication for mobile VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)."

Enterprise-grade security begins with authentication

SymPhone is the first mobile VoIP system to solve major security challenges. The latest generation of SymPhone provides the robust security features sought by enterprises. With the RSA Keon digital certificate management solution embedded, SymPhone provides:
-- Encrypted user authentication to standard directories (NT Domain, Active Directory and RADIUS) to initialize clients
-- Application PKI (public/private key authentication) for all subsequent initializations of the client and its connections, based on proven RSA Keon technology
-- PKI authentication in inter-company communications.
"We are pleased to partner with TeleSym to integrate RSA Keon digital certificate management and authentication technology with SymPhone to deliver a more secure solution to mobile VoIP users across the enterprise," said Stuart Cohen, director of partner development at RSA Security. "The RSA Keon solution gives SymPhone customers the security needed for broad mobile deployments, enabling enterprises to help fulfill the ROI and lower cost promises of VoIP technology for the enterprise."

Advantages of integration with the RSA Keon solution

The SymPhone Enterprise VoIP System leverages RSA Keon technology to offer several advanced features to the VoIP solutions marketplace:
-- Certificates are inherently much more secure than password schemes for security
-- Certificate chains enable worldwide verification with local authentication
-- Users can have strong authentication on multiple devices using the same phone number -- convenient for them and administrators
-- All connections to the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) can be validated prior to completion without user input
-- Automatic configuration of the client on all devices -- a major factor in making Mobile VoIP deployment a snap for large organizations.
Other SymPhone advantages
SymPhone client software for the PC and Pocket PC are proven, award-winning category leaders for call quality and resiliency, especially in tough wireless network environments.

The company's innovative approaches to call quality, network issues and standards-based telephony are described in today's separate product announcement. SymPhone is being demonstrated next week in the Intel Corporation booth (#12335) at the Supercomm show in Chicago.

The SymPhone Client Software is now available as a limited-time free download and is available at www.telesym.com.
