WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

Passport Trust Platform Enables Secure Payment, Messaging, Gaming and Enterprise Applications

TORONTO, Canada, June 22, 2004 - Diversinet Corp. (OTCBB: DVNTF), a leading provider of wireless data security infrastructure products and services, today announced availability of the Passport Trust Platform(tm), an expanded version of its flagship wireless data security infrastructure product suite that speeds the deployment of next-generation mobile data applications. Diversinet's Passport Trust Platform features a new software development kit, together with a number of innovative platform components, which simplify the provisioning of wireless credentials and reduce the effort needed to create a robust security infrastructure for ensuring the security and integrity of a broad range of wireless data applications. These applications include mobile payments, messaging, data access, gaming and wagering, high-value content download, enterprise mobile workforce and others.

The Passport Trust Platform supports all popular mobile devices and operating systems, enabling application developers, wireless carriers, service providers and others to address the fragmented device platform market in a consistent manner and reach the broadest set of mobile device users. The simplified management of authentication credentials for mobile devices, users and applications speeds the provisioning of trusted mobile devices and reduces customer support requirements. The straightforward integration of the Passport Trust Platform with applications makes it easy to extend Internet and PC-based Public Key Infrastructure PKI to wireless mobile environments with a single, standards-based security infrastructure for all mobile devices, reducing investment cost and development time for new mobile applications and services.

"The distinctions between wired and wireless electronic transactions are disappearing as users of these applications increasingly demand convenient access from virtually anywhere using a variety of devices," said Stu Vaeth, chief security officer of Diversinet. "Our Passport Trust Platform provides the software and tools necessary today to create a seamless security environment needed to realize this goal, as well as a framework for introducing exciting new secure applications."

With today's announcement, Diversinet introduces the Passport Provisioning Server(tm), a new product that simplifies and speeds the provisioning of secure credentials by automating the user enrollment process, turning a cumbersome, time-consuming task into a simple user configuration step. Working together with the Passport Mobile Client, the Passport Provisioning Server performs a series of enrollment functions on behalf of the user based on the organization's IT security policy, including user registration via LDAP directory, key generation, certificate request creation and secure over-the-air delivery of the key and certificate package to the user's mobile device. The Passport Provisioning Server supports the XKMS protocol standard to perform key management operations with mobile devices.

Also introduced today, the Passport SDK(tm) reduces the costs and time associated with integrating, verifying and releasing new secure wireless applications for a broad range of devices. Convenient APIs for security management, cryptographic services and certificate/key management and other developer tools minimize the effort to add public-key-based security and simplify the provisioning of security credentials. Access to Diversinet Test CA services ensure rapid development and ease of integration for application developers.

The Passport Trust Platform includes the following additional components:

* Passport Certificate Authority(tm) -- provides a standards-based certificate management system enabling end-to-end data security for mobile applications and transactions;
* Passport Mobile Client(tm) -- can be embedded on a variety of mobile devices and manages the trusted credentials used to authenticate the mobile user;
* Passport Messenger(tm) -- an SMS-based messaging system that connects Internet applications to mobile devices for sending notifications to support provisioning services, or other messaging applications;
* Passport Wireless VPN(tm) -- provides a robust, small footprint VPN that extends enterprise security to a variety of wireless devices. It offers optimized performance using light protocols, compression techniques and roaming features; and
* Passport Micro-Cert System(tm) -- provides a small footprint wireless PKI for constrained device environments, and is certified to Common Criteria Level 2+ ISO 15408.

Availability
Passport Certificate Authority, Passport Micro-Cert System and Passport Wireless VPN are available now. Passport Mobile Client, Passport SDK and Passport Provisioning Server Beta release will be available in Q3 2004.
