PalmSource Adds AT&T Wireless to The Palm Powered Mobile World Program


SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 29, 2004 – PalmSource Inc., (NASDAQ: PSRC) provider of Palm OS™, a leading operating system powering next generation mobile devices and smartphones, today announced that AT&T Wireless has joined the Palm Powered™ Mobile World program, connecting mobile operators, application developers and users of Palm Powered smart mobile devices in the Palm Powered Economy. AT&T Wireless joins existing mobile operator partners Orange, Sprint and Telefónica Móviles España, as well as more than a dozen other infrastructure and middleware partners, in this program that capitalizes on the growing smart mobile device market.

As a partner in the Palm Powered Mobile World program, AT&T Wireless will collaborate with PalmSource in several areas, including:

·· Leveraging the Palm OS developer community for the development of Palm OS applications optimized for the AT&T Wireless network;

·· Joint-marketing efforts to identify key Palm OS vertical applications based on AT&T Wireless’ target markets and supporting the distribution of these solutions to AT&T Wireless customers; and

·· Collaborating to align the Palm OS platform roadmap with AT&T Wireless’ device and network requirements, facilitating cutting-edge Palm Powered smartphones to be brought to market.

As a result of this collaboration, AT&T Wireless subscribers can benefit from easy access to a variety of applications for their Palm Powered devices, while Palm OS application developers can gain from the addition of a large customer base served by the wireless carrier. In addition, AT&T Wireless can provide direction to Palm OS developers on desired vertical applications that take advantage of the AT&T Wireless network, technical and business requirements.

The combination of the industry-leading Palm OS platform together with the capabilities of AT&T Wireless data services is expected to promote increased development of Palm OS applications optimized for the operator’s GSM, GPRS and Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution (EDGE) networks. It is anticipated that new, innovative applications will take advantage of the advanced network and Palm OS platform stimulating revenue growth for both mobile operators and application developers.
