PlanetLink Communications Moves Its 'PlanetTRAKS' GPS Tracking Product Into Beta-Testing Phase
CUMMING, Ga., March 3- PlanetLink Communications
Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: PLKC), a provider of satellite-based products and
services announced today that it had begun official beta testing of its
PlanetTRAKS GPS product. The beta testing phase will be conducted with a
select group of potential commercial customers that have expressed a strong
interest in using the product for vehicle fleets.
Over the past month early stage field-testing of the product was
successfully completed in two geographic locations, Atlanta, Georgia and San
Antonio, Texas. During this phase, twelve PlanetTRAKS units were installed on
personal vehicles owned by people affiliated with PlanetLink and Karta
Technologies, its technology development partner -- six in each geographic
location. "I am pleased to announce that our field-testing phase was a huge
success. Not only have we demonstrated the effectiveness of PlanetTRAKS, but
the feedback and suggestions from our users and those that viewed our live
interactive Web site have served to further refine and improve our product
dramatically," said M. Dewey Bain, president of PlanetLink Communications Inc.
"We are now well ahead of schedule and are progressing rapidly toward
commercial launch of our product now expected in the first half of April,
2004. We are making good progress with several potential customers as we
begin to set timelines and focus on production and delivery in the near term,"
said Bain.
PlanetLink is developing a family of GPS-enabled Mobile Locator Units
(MLUs) under the PlanetTRAKS name, designed to communicate real-time location
data and other information over the General Packet Radio System (GPRS) to a
secure Internet server. Customers may then access that information via a
password-protected web site in order to track vehicles and other assets. San
Antonio, Texas-based Karta Technologies Inc., an industry leader in IT,
engineering, training and program management services is leading the R&D
effort.
