OMD Corp. Selects Defywire's Mobility Suite to Enable its Office Equipment
HERNDON, Va. & JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.--May 10, 2004-- OMD Corporation and Defywire(R), Inc. today announced the use of Defywire's Mobility Suite(R) as the wireless platform for OMD's industry-leading Vision product suite. The Vision product suite is the leading business software solution within the office equipment and dealer automation market.
Using the Defywire Mobility Suite, OMD will offer new functionality that will allow customers to apply the benefits of real-time, mobile information to their business processes. Key applications within the Vision suite, such as sales and field service, will now be wirelessly enabled and accessible via PDAs and mobile phones.
For example, field service employees using OMD's Service On-The-Go interface for Vision will be able to access open service requests and self-dispatch requests based on geographic proximity and priority, utilizing a wireless device. They will be able to look up parts availability, as well as close service requests, including identifying parts used, all while working at the customer site and in real-time. The new modules will use location-based information, via GPS, to allow field service employees to accurately determine the proximity of service requests. This platform will also include bar code scanning of parts used, to improve inventory accuracy.
