Indiagames to Bring “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” to Your Mobile Phone

Mumbai, India & Hollywood, CA -- May 14, 2004 -- Indiagames Ltd., the leading Mobile entertainment developer, has entered into an agreement with FOX L&M's Wireless Entertainment Group to bring wireless content based on the global television phenomenon - "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". The wireless content includes mobile games, wallpapers, screensavers, ring tones, and alerts.

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is a highly successful television series, revolving around the life of Buffy (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) the chosen one – a Vampire Slayer – and her close group of friends, protecting their town (Sunnydale) from evil and the undead in all incarnations.

The television series premiered in March 1997, a re-invention of a character first written for the 1992 feature film. Over the course of almost 150 episodes, the show has become a cult hit, with an intensely loyal, global fan following. Sarah Michelle Gellar, who originally auditioned for the role of Cordelia (another character in the series), was chosen to play Buffy instead. The rest... as they say... is history.

Over the years, the highly successful franchise has generated several games both for console (XBOX and PS2) and portable game devices (Game Boy Advance). Indiagames is creating a mobile game based on this franchise.

“BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER is a great property for the mobile generation—it’s global, youthful, fresh and works on several levels. BUFFY is typical of the vast body of great TV and theatrical content that Fox has at its disposal, content perfect for translation into mobile content and cross-marketing synergies.” said Jim Beddows, vice president of wireless entertainment for Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising Division “Indiagames has already done a great job interpreting Fox’s THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW into mobile content and we look forward to a similar effort for BUFFY.”.

“Buffy is a sensation with youth across the world and has proven to be a hugely successful television and game franchise” says Vishal Gondal, the CEO of Indiagames Ltd. “Indiagames with its development and worldwide distribution strengths is best suited to get this cult brand to mobile phones across the world. We hope die-hard Buffy fans will enjoy the mobile experience.”
