WirelessDevNet.com Press Release
Red-M and iGov Provide New Government 'Must-Have' Bluetooth Security
MCLEAN, Va., May 14 -- Once a "no wireless" world, the U.S.
Federal government is introducing wireless technologies -- including
Bluetooth -- within its agencies to increase mobility, lower infrastructure
costs and achieve real-time information exchange. But with the increased
dependence on wireless comes a heightened need for broad and deep security
measures. To meet this demand, Red-M, a leading developer of hardware and
software tools for secure wireless control, today announced a partnership with
full-service, government reseller, iGov. Established in 1996 to cater
exclusively to the U.S. Federal government relies on Red-M for its unique
ability to detect, secure and control wireless vulnerabilities on all
802.11 and Bluetooth spectrums.
"Our government customers are asking for wireless security that protects
against all kinds of rogue intruders and as yet, unimagined
threats -- including those that may occur on the Bluetooth spectrum," says
Steve Taylor, enterprise solutions group manager for iGov. "With Red-M's wide
range of products, our customers can detect any kind of rogue activity, be it
on Bluetooth or 802.11 bands, and control and manage those wireless
vulnerabilities to mitigate the possible risks. Red-M is the only vendor
capable of providing this kind of protection against both Bluetooth and
802.11."
iGov and Red-M will offer the Department of Defense and civilian agencies
Red-M's suite of wireless security products including: Red Alert Pro, a
wireless monitoring probe, Red-Detect, a wireless IDS system and Red-Vision, a
complete WLAN control solution. Government customers may purchase Red-M's
products as part of a broader network management solution that simplifies the
challenges of maintaining and securing both wired and wireless network
environments.
"The distributed nature of government makes it both the perfect candidate
for wireless technologies and yet the perfect target for rogue intruders
interested in stealing highly-sensitive data and information," said Karl
Feilder, president and CEO of Red-M. "With iGov, Red-M is providing government
agencies with a comprehensive array of products to protect all areas of
wireless -- from devices to infrastructure -- against both 802.11 and
Bluetooth vulnerabilities."
