WirelessDevNet.com Press Release
DPAC Technologies and SensorLogic Partner to Provide Wireless M2M Solutions
GARDEN GROVE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 2004--DPAC Technologies (Nasdaq:DPAC), the market leader in embedded 802.11 wireless networking solutions for the machine-to-machine (M2M) market, and SensorLogic, Inc., the industry's first M2M application service provider, announce a partnership that will spur development of new wireless M2M solutions.
The partnership calls for the two companies to jointly integrate and market their respective technologies -- SensorLogic's M2M Portal(TM) plus DPAC's Airborne(TM) Wireless LAN Node Module and AirborneDirect(TM) wireless system product family -- thus allowing rapid development and deployment of cost-effective wireless M2M solutions. These innovative solutions will find use in industrial automation, process control, telematics, SCADA applications, asset monitoring, medical monitoring, multi-sensor applications and a host of other markets.
The SensorLogic M2M Portal(TM) is a web-based data management and communications platform that simplifies construction of complete, end-to-end wireless telemetry solutions. M2M Portal(TM) is offered as a managed service, allowing M2M solution developers to pay for services as they use them, minimizing their upfront investments and system maintenance costs.
DPAC's Airborne(TM) 802.11b Wireless LAN Node Module and the AirborneDirect(TM) wireless system product family are highly integrated solutions that allow "drop-in" wireless connectivity across a broad range of M2M applications. DPAC's embedded modules are designed to provide wireless LAN and Internet connectivity to OEM products that require industrial grade performance with a quick time-to-market, reduced development cost and lowered risk.
Under the partnership's specific terms, DPAC is incorporating SensorLogic's communications software into its wireless products, while SensorLogic is integrating connections between its M2M Portal(TM) and the DPAC modules. The end result is that Service Providers using M2M Portal(TM) will be able to quickly activate DPAC modules and communicate with them.
Both SensorLogic and DPAC products take an off-the-shelf, open standards approach, allowing fast, easy and cost-effective implementation of wireless M2M solutions.
"Like SensorLogic, DPAC is a company committed to supporting open standards. This allows customers to build wireless M2M solutions using products from the best providers," says Jeff Smith, President and CEO, SensorLogic. "Our partnership with DPAC integrates leading products, which enables superior remote monitoring and control solutions."
"DPAC is excited to team with SensorLogic, employing our collective expertise to bring a complete plug-and-play wireless solution to the M2M market," says Greg Gower, Vice President, DPAC Technologies. "The partnership between both companies reflects the vision we share about the potential of the emerging M2M market."
