WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

Skiers and Snowboarders Get Mobile With Text Messaging

November 1, 2004 -- As the lifts begin to open at mountain resorts across the country, a new wireless service is being launched that targets ski and snowboard enthusiasts. SnoCountry Mountain Reports has partnered with SMS Media Group (SMSMG) out of Aliso Viejo, CA to produce Mobile Snow Reports using text messaging.

Text messaging is fast becoming the next medium of choice for broadcasting bite-sized information. SnoCountry already serves up snow report data to thousands of web sites. "Because of the active lifestyles of our customer base, It made sense to make our data available to them while they are mobile," says David Black, Director of Partnerships for SnoCountry. "Our customers can now be notified of changing snow and weather conditions on their cell phones," remarks Black. This is a great service for skiers and snowboarders who don't want to miss the powder!

The snow reports include the name of the resort, time, the base inches, type of snow, percentage of open terrain, number of open lifts, and a phone number for the resort all in 100 characters of text.

The reports are sent first thing in the morning and then again throughout the day if snow conditions change. The service is free for SnoCountry's users to subscribe; and they can choose to receive the reports on a daily basis, during the week, weekends, or when new snow falls. Snow reports are delivered for approximately 500 mountain resorts across the United States and Canada.

Since the service is free for subscribers, apart from any fees the carriers might charge to receive messages, the reports will include relevant sponsorship at the bottom of the messages. SnoCountry is utilizing SMSMG's SMSdelivery.net messaging platform and Ads2Cell mobile ad-serving technology to provide the text alerts.

To sign up for the mobile snow reports, go to http://SnoCountry.com.
