New Orleans Police Department Selects Infokall For Mobile Citation Solutions
SANTA ANA, Calif.--Nov. 4, 2004--
Mayor Says the Solutions "Enhance Revenue, Increase Officer Productivity and Improve Safety for the Cop on the Street"
Infokall announced today that it has been selected by the New Orleans Police Department to provide mobile applications for moving citations that will allow its motorcycle and patrol officers to dramatically improve the speed and accuracy of the citation process.
New Orleans will become one of the first cities in the nation to deploy a single solution on both handheld devices and mobile data computers to streamline the issuance of citations and maximize police productivity. The potential of the nascent market of law enforcement mobility in the United States is estimated to be approximately 175,000 handheld computers and $2 billion in potential revenue.
"This integrated solution will pay for itself by eliminating the common mistakes that are made when citations are filled out by hand and it will help police productivity increase," said Mayor C. Ray Nagin.
Infokall's product was selected, after completing a rigorous pilot project with the New Orleans Police Department, where it was praised for its simplicity, effectiveness and intuitive approach. "We were impressed with the Infokall solution and more so when we received unanimous, overwhelming support of our field officers who tested the product," said Police Superintendent Edwin Compass.
"By selecting a single vendor to deploy a solution on both motorcycle and patrol cars, we believe that the city of New Orleans has obtained significant value for its money," said Chief Technology Officer Greg Meffert. "Negotiating an enterprise license to handle moving violations will enable us to reduce training and administration costs in the near and long term."
"We believe that the New Orleans Police Department will realize significant benefits from the deployment of our intelligent mobile solutions that improve efficiencies, revenue flow and safety," said Vishnu Choudhary, CEO, Infokall. "It's another example of arming the growing mobile work force with information at the point of activity that allows them to do a better job."
Infokall's solution will be running on rugged handheld computers running Microsoft Pocket PC Operating System to arm the city of New Orleans Police Department motor officers with a device that can better withstand rugged usage, harsh conditions such as heat, humidity and rain than a consumer-class handheld computer. This device, manufactured by Symbol Technologies has proven integrated bar code scanning, the Spectrum24(R) wireless local area network (LAN), a large, easy-to-read display and boasts optimized battery power to last more than a shift. Tickets will be printed from a small wireless-enabled portable printer, which communicates with the handheld computer via the wireless LAN. The same solution will run on the existing Data911 and Panasonic Toughbook Mobile Computers installed in the patrol cars interfaced with printers, in a second phase of the deployment.
Infokall Inc. delivers intelligent mobile solutions and enterprise application integration, enabling anywhere, anytime data and voice communication designed to increase productivity, reduce costs and realize competitive advantage. Infokall has also been selected to the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 in Orange County in 2004. Infokall is based in California in the United States with offices in Chicago (USA), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Chennai (India) and in the United Kingdom.
