VIVO Selects Openwave MAG 6 And Openwave Messaging Mx 6 to Offer Data Services And Mobile Email
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Nov. 10 -- Openwave Systems
Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), the leading provider of open software products and
services for the communications industry, today announced that VIVO, a joint
Venture led by Portugal Telecom (NYSE: PT) and Telefonica Moviles SA (TEM) has
selected Openwave's WAP2 Mobile Access Gateway Version 6 and Openwave(R)
Messaging Mx 6, to deliver an intuitive user experience for mobile email, and
rich content.
Openwave's commitment to helping perfect the user experience will enable
VIVO to increase usage and ultimately revenue of these services on today's and
future handsets. MAG 6, combined with Mx 6, will enable VIVO to rapidly
launch new wireless services and bundles for its subscribers by combining
content and messaging to sustain the data services leadership in the Brazilian
market.
Openwave MAG 6 provides a complete and integrated solution for WAP 1 and
WAP 2 capabilities. Openwave Messaging Mx 6 leverages the strengths of MAG 6
such as WAP Push and allows users to send, receive and store messages with any
kind of content from the widest range of new and legacy handsets, as well as
enables operators to push notifications with personalized content to its
end-users.
