ArcWeb Services Help Aligo's Mobile Users Stay on Track
Redlands, California-Aligo Inc., a global leader in mobile software solutions, is using ESRI's ArcWeb Services for WorkTrack, a hosted solution for managing the time and productivity of mobile employees. WorkTrack combines proven, leading edge mobile software with global positioning system (GPS)-enabled mobile phones and ArcWeb Services to offer businesses real-time centralized view and control of their distributed workforces, resulting in cost savings, increased worker productivity, and improved job log accuracy through an easy-to-use mobile attendance and job reporting system.
ArcWeb Services are hosted Web services that include map data and on-demand geospatial capabilities needed to add addresses, points of interest, dynamic maps, and routing directions to location-based applications. Because data storage, maintenance, and updates are handled by ESRI, ArcWeb Services eliminate the overhead of purchasing and maintaining large spatial databases and software.
Launched earlier this year, WorkTrack currently serves a customer base in local government and the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning industry, both of which manage distributed mobile workforces. Using WorkTrack, businesses of any size are able to receive real-time job reports from their workers in the field to automate their payroll and billing processes.
As a hosted service, WorkTrack eliminates the need for companies to buy and manage additional hardware or software while delivering cost savings with only a GPS-enabled mobile phone and a Web browser.
"Aligo's WorkTrack is a cost-effective means of employee time, job, and location management that helps us streamline our operations and better serve our customers," said Gary London, president of Acme Mechanical Contractors in Manassas, Virginia. "The solution allows us to capture employee shift times, validate their location, and create Web-based reports to better manage and utilize our field force."
"WorkTrack allows business managers to take geographic snapshots of worker productivity through an intuitive mapping interface. We chose ArcWeb Services because it was easy to embed addresses, maps, and routing capabilities into the application," adds Joyce Kim, vice president of Marketing at Aligo. "For the first time, businesses can instantly receive accurate, real-time information about time spent on jobs or breaks, job details, and moment-by-moment location of their distributed field force while experiencing a return on investment usually within six months or less."
