Airborne and 49ers Tackle Wireless Initiative


SAN FRANCISCO, California and MONTREAL, Canada – October 12, 2004 – The San Francisco 49ers are ready to offer fans the ultimate in double coverage. The five-time Super Bowl champions have teamed up with Airborne Entertainment Inc., a leading publisher of top-flight branded mobile entertainment, to allow fans to download 49ers ringtones and wallpapers directly to their mobile phones.

Whether at Monster Park, their favorite bar or watching at home, 49ers fans will be able to face paint their phone with red-hot shots of the 49ers Gold Rush cheerleaders, 49ers logos, classic jerseys and other dazzling team images. Fans will also be able to download a full array of ringtones featuring famous radio play-by-plays, favorite 49ers cheers and other custom-made audio assets. 49ers wallpapers and ringtones will be available on wireless carriers across North America shortly, followed by games and other mobile products. The 49ers will promote their team-branded wireless products through an in-house, integrated online and offline campaign.

“Landing the 49ers is a huge score for us,” said Andy Nulman, president of Airborne Entertainment. “The team’s global appeal, huge fan base and wealth of assets made them an obvious choice to be our first pro football team to market. This is a great kickoff for Airborne in this sport.”

The 49ers serve as a starting point for a wider football initiative that will see Airborne continuing to expand across this market as it has for the National Hockey League.

Airborne Entertainment worked in conjunction with Berridge Interactive to solidify this deal with the 49ers.
