Proxim Completes Integration Of Azimuth Systems Wi-Fi Test Solution
ACTON, MA- October 25, 2004 - Azimuth Systems, Inc., innovators in scalable, automated wireless network test systems, today announced that Proxim Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), an established leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and broadband wireless networks, has adopted the Azimuth W-Series test platform as an integral part of its product validation cycle.
“Automation is the key to successfully reducing time to market in the fast moving wireless industry, and this level of automation would be impossible in an uncontrolled RF environment,” said Keith Harrison, director of quality assurance at Proxim. “Azimuth delivers a repeatable test platform – with automation and mobility – all in one. We have completely integrated Azimuth’s W-Series into our advanced product verification suites.”
Proxim’s portfolio of wireless products, including the ORiNOCO Wi-Fi access points, are respected in the industry as high performing, reliable solutions, due to diligent testing and quality assurance that is strengthened by Azimuth’s testing methods.
“Proxim’s leadership in wireless networking, as well as its forward-thinking product strategy, has been a great match for Azimuth,” said John Griesing, Azimuth’s vice president of research and development. “Proxim has worked with us since our first product shipments, running multiple test systems and comparing them to their open air tests. As a result, they were able to validate the real world test issues they witnessed in their labs. We will continue to make the Azimuth test solution work flawlessly for Proxim and its customers.”
The Azimuth W-Series is the industry’s first standardized test platform for system level testing of 802.11 wireless access points, clients and other devices. Designed from the ground up as an off-the-shelf, wireless LAN test platform, W-Series systems provide the ability to configure an entire WLAN network in a bench top chassis designed for complete Radio Frequency (RF) isolation and control. The flexibility and programmability of the W-Series allows for the thorough evaluation of wireless LAN equipment under varying mobility conditions and traffic patterns, as well as precise analysis of the results. The system offers an ideal environment to perform software design validation and to test advanced wireless functionality including the latest IEEE standards.
