V-ONE Announces Powerful Security Enhancements

GERMANTOWN, Md.--Oct. 28, 2004--V-ONE Corporation (OTCPK:VNEC), a leading global Internet security company, today announced version 4.6 of its SmartGate(R) application layer SSL VPN product with enhanced user authentication and access control features. The SmartGate enterprise class security solution provides end-to-end AES data encryption, integrated two-factor user authentication and powerful access control features.

"With this significant release, V-ONE takes a dramatic step forward by providing the security product for today's complex information-sharing environment," said Jim Naughton, V-ONE's Director of Product Marketing.

SmartGate 4.6 introduces new technology for the Java and Pocket PC platforms, streamlining deployment and usability. The release provides cross-realm Federated Authentication functionality and expands SmartGate's single sign-on capabilities to include users who authenticate via PKI. These features reduce the time and cost needed to quickly create a secure information-sharing environment.

"Providing cost-effective secure access for all users is V-ONE's goal for a well-designed virtual private network solution," said Margaret E. Grayson, president and CEO of V-ONE Corporation. "This new SmartGate release builds on our strength in delivering total cost of ownership advantages based on highly secure, easy-to-deploy end user access."

The new release includes end point security features that ensure users are running specific versions of anti-virus, malware protection and other security software defined by their system administrator before connectivity is allowed. Additionally, SmartGate 4.6 detects the user's environment - be it their personal desktop or an Internet cafe - and either grants or denies access appropriate to that environment.

"With the increasing mobility of the workforce and the proliferation of computer viruses, end point security has grown in importance," said Jason Wright, Security Technologies Industry Analyst at Frost & Sullivan. "V-ONE's SmartGate 4.6 release provides customers with the essentials to defend their networks, using integrated end point security features and seamlessly interoperating with third party solutions."
