Mobile Phones Become 'Entertainment Passports' at GRINSPOON Concerts
The Metro Theatre in Sydney has teamed with AURA Digital Communications to offer GRINSPOON fans the first ever triple redemption MOBI-TICKET direct to their mobile phones.
More than half the people booking for the two sell-out concerts received their tickets directly to their mobile phone in the form of a MOBI-TICKET - an SMS message with a unique bar code - rather than receive a paper ticket.
Mobile phones were scanned at the venue for speedy processing and the MOBI -TICKET also offered a discount on Tooheys Extra Dry at the Bar and a limited edition Grinspoon trucker cap when fans pre-order the latest GRINSPOON CD at all HMV Stores in NSW.
Damian Devine, Marketing Manager at HMV said "HMV is very excited to be one of the first Australian music retailers to embrace Mobile barcode technology. We see fantastic potential in partnering with the promoters and record labels to offer concert-goers music related offers through our stores. We see mobile marketing playing a major role within our marketing strategy"
Tom Enright, Director of New Media at Universal Music, the record label behind GRINSPOON, said, "We are very pleased to be able to offer loyal fans a limited edition souvenir and to utilise leading-edge mobile technologies as part of our album pre-launch. As a mobile is always with you we see this providing a great new way to deliver offers straight into the hands of the people who will most appreciate them."
GRINSPOON manager, Gregg Donovan said "We are always looking for ways to give back to our loyal fans. MOBI-TICKETS provide us with a way to communicate with consumers in a cost effective way and involve other related merchandise."
Since the METRO Theatre introduced the MOBI-TICKET option on selected concerts, there has been a growing demand for this technology among concert goers. People appreciate the convenience and security and the quick processing past the scanner when they arrive at the theatre.
"It's all about increasing value for concert-goers and by adding special discounts and great offers as part of the ticket we can enhance the patrons' entertainment experience," said Adam Dunne, Director
