Catanzaro Foods Selects Nextair For Its Mobile Platform
Toronto, Canada – – Nextair Inc. (TSX:NXA) today announced that Catanzaro Foods has successfully completed the first stage of its implementation of the AIRIX Wireless Environment, ultimately allowing the Cincinnati-based food giant’s remote workers to stay in touch with head office when they are out in the field.
In the first part of the installation Catanzaro is deploying AIRIX in its warehouse for inventory control purposes. Catanzaro warehouse workers will be using the HHP Dolphin device running on the Pocket PC operating system to accomplish tasks such as HACCP compliance, picking, shipping, receiving and inventory control.
The AIRIX Wireless Environment is a family of products that includes the AIRIX Design Studio™, AIRIX Smart Client™ and the AIRIX Transaction Server™. Together, these products provide the most innovative and advanced mobile data solution on the market today. Customers can typically have their wireless applications up and running in a couple of weeks.
“The benefits of mobility go beyond simply putting some data and a form on a handheld device,” said David Catanzaro, IT Manager of Continuous Improvement, of Catanzaro Foods. “By choosing the AIRIX Wireless Environment we are investing in Catanzaro’s future. We will continuously improve our wireless applications and AIRIX allows us the control and flexibility we needed to manage that process ourselves. AIRIX will allow us to easily support multiple warehouses as we continue to expand. Our business has grown 85 per cent since 1998, and 2004 is shaping up to be one of our best years ever, with growth like this we need a platform that can truly grow with us.”
In the next stages of the implementation, Catanzaro will launch AIRIX on the cellular networks to its 38 delivery trucks for dispatch and delivery of food products to the restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes, schools etc. This application will allow drivers to process delivery transactions, capture digital signatures and pictures, and to communicate directly with the main office and be rerouted if needed - all from their mobile devices. Catanzaro is already planning further application releases that will allow a Catanzaro customer to track their inventory levels and to place their orders electronically via a PDA device directly to Catanzaro’s computer system.
“We are extremely pleased that Catanzaro Foods chose AIRIX to improve operational efficiencies,” said Ron Close, CEO and President of Nextair. “Leading companies in the food services sector know that timeliness and responsiveness drive customer satisfaction and revenue growth. We are delighted that AIRIX is a key part of Catanzaro’s solution.”
