WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

Azimuth Systems Announces 500 TEST Modules Shipped to 50 Customers Worldwide

ACTON, Mass., April 19 2005 - In an unprecedented rise to market leadership, Azimuth Systems, Inc., innovators in scalable, automated wireless network test systems, today announced that the company has closed its 50th customer deal, with over 500 test modules sold to date to the wireless LAN market. Azimuth’s impressive customer list includes market-leading enterprise Wi-Fi companies like Symbol, Proxim and SpectraLink, and leading Wi-Fi silicon providers Atheros and Broadcom. Azimuth has also been successful in the 802.11 switch market with suppliers like Trapeze, Aruba and Airespace.

“As an early adopter, Iometrix has seen Azimuth become a true force in the industry by delivering on its promise to architect a test system that can be relied upon for accurate, repeatable testing of data and advanced voice testing,” said Bob Mandeville, president of Iometrix.

“Performance testing is key for SpectraLink,” said John Elms, SpectraLink president and CEO. “Azimuth’s ability to validate call capacity and roaming behavior will serve as a cornerstone of our VIEW Certification Program.”

Azimuth released the W-Series 802.11 test platform in November 2003 and has now shipped over 500 test modules to over 50 customers worldwide. The unique motion capability of the W-Series allows users to easily and precisely test critical functions such as roaming and rate adaptation, which were previously impossible to test in a reliable and repeatable manner before Azimuth released its automated Roaming Test Suites. In addition to Wi-Fi vendors and end users, Azimuth works with most of the industry’s test labs and magazines, providing them with a platform to evaluate the true performance capabilities of vendor equipment.

“Azimuth's automated test setups have been quite useful in our development and certification processes,” stated Jeff Gilbert, Director of Algorithms and Architecture at Atheros Communications. “For our emerging 802.11n testing, we are working closely with Azimuth.”

Azimuth has also recently announced partnerships with an array of leading distributors including ParaLink (Taiwan), Toyo Corporation (Japan), Unitel (Korea), Advanced Telecom Systems S.p.A (Italy), AspidCom (Spain), TestTools (Scandinavia) and Bynet Electronics (Israel).

“Azimuth's success is very well-deserved,” said Craig J. Mathias, a principal with the wireless and mobile advisory firm Farpoint Group (Ashland, MA). “Their leadership in wireless-LAN testing is the direct result of great products that set the standard for the industry.”
