Cognima Launches Snap For Java Enabled Camera Phones
1st August, 2005, UK - Cognima, the developer of effortless mobile applications, today launched Cognima Snap(tm) Java Edition - the world's first Java mobile imaging application capable of robustly uploading full resolution images over-the-air from multi-megapixel camera phones.
Initially available for the new Sony Ericsson K750i and D750 handsets, Cognima Snap Java Edition enables Sony Ericsson users to upload images and videos from their phone to online albums and image sharing communities at the same high quality in which they were captured.
Cognima Snap Java Edition is the latest addition to the Cognima Snap family of products. Cognima Snap, which is renowned for its ease-of-use and robust qualities, is already available for a broad range of Symbian and Microsoft smartphones. Making the technology available for Java phones is a major breakthrough, and a first for the industry, as Java is a much more restrictive application development environment. The result for operators, online portals and digital imaging companies is that a considerably wider market will benefit from Cognima's efficient and user-friendly mobile imaging experience, generating higher levels of adoption of mobile imaging services and increased imaging-related revenues per user.
With Cognima Snap, users can carry on making calls, texting and browsing as normal without worrying about the upload process which is quietly going on in the background. Reliable upload of high quality images requires a robust and non-intrusive background data transfer process which does not interrupt normal use of the phone - Cognima Snap is uniquely able to do this. If data transfer is interrupted, for example by loss of network coverage or a flat battery, it resumes automatically from the point of failure at the next opportunity.
"Cognima's effortless user experience overcomes many of the barriers constraining the ability of the industry to monetise the very large and rapidly growing base of camera phones worldwide. The launch of Cognima Snap Java Edition enables our customers to begin to access the large untapped pool of consumers who have Java-enabled camera phones," said Mark Bole, CEO of Cognima. "This latest addition to the already established Cognima Snap product range paves the way for future support of additional Java handsets and other mobile phone platforms."
Cognima Snap Java Edition is available today for deployment by mobile operators, online portals and digital imaging companies.
